چکیده

We propose a new algorithm for solving Helmholtz equations in the exterior domain. The algorithm not only combines the advantages of implicit surface representation and the boundary integral method, but also provides a new way to compute a class of the so-called hypersingular integrals. The keys to the proposed algorithm are the derivation of the volume integrals which are equivalent to any given integrals on smooth closed hypersurfaces, and the ability to approximate the natural limit of the singular integrals via seamless extrapolation. We present numerical results for both two and three dimensional scattering problems at near resonant frequencies as well as with non-convex scattering surfaces.

Sharp High-Frequency Estimates for the Helmholtz Equation and Applications to Boundary Integral Equations

We consider three problems for the Helmholtz equation in interior and exterior domains in R, (d = 2, 3): the exterior Dirichlet-to-Neumann and Neumann-to-Dirichlet problems for outgoing solutions, and the interior impedance problem. We derive sharp estimates for solutions to these problems that, in combination, give bounds on the inverses of the combined-field boundary integral operators for ex...

Boundary temperature reconstruction in an inverse heat conduction problem using boundary integral equation method

‎In this paper‎, ‎we consider an inverse boundary value problem for two-dimensional heat equation in an annular domain‎. ‎This problem consists of determining the temperature on the interior boundary curve from the Cauchy data (boundary temperature and heat flux) on the exterior boundary curve‎. ‎To this end‎, ‎the boundary integral equation method is used‎. ‎Since the resulting system of linea...

Numerische Mathematik Manuscript-nr. a Finite-element Capacitance Matrix Method for Exterior Helmholtz Problems

We introduce an algorithm for the eecient numerical solution of exterior boundary value problems for the Helmholtz equation. The problem is reformulated as an equivalent one on a bounded domain using an exact non-local boundary condition on a circular artiicial boundary. An FFT-based fast Helmholtz solver is then derived for a nite-element discretization on an annular domain. The exterior probl...

A new method for true and spurious eigensolutions of arbitrary cavities using the combined Helmholtz exterior integral equation formulation method.

Integral equation methods have been widely used to solve interior eigenproblems and exterior acoustic problems (radiation and scattering). It was recently found that the real-part boundary element method (BEM) for the interior problem results in spurious eigensolutions if the singular (UT) or the hypersingular (LM) equation is used alone. The real-part BEM results in spurious solutions for inte...

Numerical Solution of Helmholtz Equation by Boundary Elements Method

Boundary elements method is well-suited for computational acoustics. The main profit it brings is reduction in number of unknowns compared to FEM. However, application of BEM to sound scattering problems has shown, that this advantage is lost in case of high frequency waves. High frequencies require larger number of elements which contradicts the initial purpose of using BEM in solvers and may ...
